RGZ-91 Re-GZ Refined Gundam Zeta & BWS(Back Weapon System)

Synopsis: Like the most other Char Counter Attack Figures I picked this figure up before Char's Counter Attack was officially released in the U.S. so like a good portion of the U.S. audience I had little idea what role each figure would play in the story. This figure caught my eye due to its possible lineage to the Zeta and ZZ Gundams from series bearing their name so this figure grabbed my attention right away.

I've seen the series months ago now and I know its mostly supporting role played in the series but this guy's looks and accessories continue to call to me to fiddle with it from time to time. So let's start.

The Figure: Size wise this figure continues in the same scale as the other CCA figures in being larger then other MSiAs from other lines.

The Head is well detailed and well painted, The overall color of the figure is true to the series with a toothpaste green sort of color similar to the GM Custom of the 0083 line. 360 degrees of rotation can be achieved while elevating the head is somewhat hampered despite the use of a ball joint. The antennae on the head of the ReGZ can be prone to warping so be careful when storing it.

The Arms are well articulated. Shoulder armor does not hamper movement for the most part given the transformation the figure will have to undergo with the BWS. The Back of the either forearm has a peg for the shield to be placed. The hands present are the hands on the figure, though not entirely a bad idea both hands can grip the beam saber or shield though the right hand is designated to carry the Beam Rifle though the rifle can't be posed in many ways but not because of the hands.

The legs are decent in terms of detail and paint. The rotating hip Grenade pack are connected to the top on the leg. The Front skirt armor is soft enough to allow leg movement in contrast to the rigid back skirt armor. The knee joint is well articulate to the point of being double jointed to allow for transformation with the BWS. The movable piece of Knee Armor however can be prone to fall off if messed with too much. Leg Movement is similar to the older Gundam Zeta due in part to their similar leg design differing only in the fact that the heel and the rest of the foot of the ReGZ are two separate pieces joined by a joint to allow the foot to close up. The Thruster nozzles behind the Calve are movable.

The Torso is well Painted and well detailed though the grenade launchers on the hip hamper torso rotation. The thruster and tail binder backpack is decent due to a swiveling tail binder and movable thruster nozzles. The only downside to this pack is the popping off the pack can do from time to time.

The Accessories: This isn't really that strong Accessories due in part by the vehicle the ReGZ came with.

BWS(Back Weapon System): Alone this flimsy vessel is prone to falling apart especially near the wing. With the ReGZ hooked up with the BWS, this combination is better strengthened.

Beam Saber: Like the earlier Zeta Gundam this Beam saber is taller then the figure itself. Though the design is nice the peg at the hilt proves to be an eyesore through the transparent yellow blade.

Beam Rifle: A nice looking design if it weren't for the fact that the ReGZ can't hold it in a decent way due to the hip grenade launcher's presence and the overall thickness of the rifle.

Shield: This is an interesting design featuring three detachable grenades (though these are tough to remove on some.) on the shield as well as the shield peg and handle capable of folding up, though looking a little too big, this Shield brings up some possibly new innovations to watch out for.

Play Value: Accessories isn't this figure's strongpoint however the BWS poses some slight interest though due to the flimsy nature of the BWS frustration will be the emotion of choice in dealing in its transformation.

Display Value: The Color scheme isn't that spectacular however the odd color and the BWS may attract attention.

Dollar Value:
Due to the Vehicle the $10.99 is the limit to pay for this figure. It's a big figure with few accessories depicting a decent tradeoff.

Conclusion: Flaws hold this figure down in estimating its worth. For the compeletist, a Zeta Fan, or CCA fan it may not be a bad buy.

Score: 6.5/10 Good Qualities lowered by bad flaws.
